PRESENTATION IS KEY when it comes to selling a product to a consumer.  I should know because I’m a sucker for pretty product packaging.  I know first hand that when you wrap a gift or item in a beautiful box or container of some sort, the recipient is immediately smitten even if they don’t know what is inside. The thoughtful presentation entices them to want to know what’s inside the lovely wrapper.

Clearly, many companies have figured out the art and science behind product packaging.  Making the packaging so eye-catching that you want the product regardless of whether you need it or not.  The packaging makes you want it anyway.  Good packaging is like a moth to a flame.  You just can’t resist it.  Good packaging makes you want to rethink your budget.  Good packaging makes you spend money you don’t have.  Good packaging tempts you to by more products even if you don’t like the original product.  Good packaging is key to getting customers to buy a product and come back again.

A few months ago, I purchased a few items from two different companies.  One purchase was a need and the other was a want. The first product was a pair of stroller hooks which I purchased to help me carry multiple grocery bags without hurting my fingers in the process. When the product arrived via Amazon, I expected it to just be in a regular box or bubble wrap. However, it was a pleasant surprise to see the cute little bag.  The bag was so cute that I thought it was another order or a different product.  I was shocked to see that my two hooks were placed inside waiting for me to use them.  The hooks are useful, but the packaging made me want to order more products from the company Mini Factory again because the bag had me hooked.

My second purchase was a few cosmetics from NYX. When my items arrived I was completely in love with the presentation.  I felt special.  It was my first online order from this company and they definitely made an excellent first impression.  I will probably be a customer for life based on the packaging alone.  I opened the box and found a dainty black lace bag with a drawstring top containing all of the goodies I had bought along with a few extras.  The products were arranged inside in such a way that the bag was able to stand upright on its own as I removed it from its box and placed it on the table.  It was an impressive sight to see.  I’m a fan for life of NYX Cosmetics for the packaging alone.

In the future, I hope to find more pretty product packaging to share. What type of pretty product packaging have you seen in your travels?
