Over the past few months, I’ve been dying to try some new and easy dessert recipes in the kitchen. I was getting tired of baking the same old recipes over and over again. So for the holidays, I decided to try a few new ones just to shake things up for a change. However, instead of going to Pinterest for recipes, I decided to search YouTube for new dessert recipe ideas and was happy I did.
The dessert recipes that came up in my search were only a slight deviation from my usual desserts. The three that I chose to recreate in my kitchen were perfect for the holiday season. Each one of them were sweet, warm, and comforting. The perfect combination for the cold winter months.
Additionally, you will be happy to know that all of the recipes that I chose to make were quick and simple. Plus, each recipe is accompanied by a video demo, which makes recreating them a breeze.
So, let’s take a look at the dessert recipes I found on YouTube below.
Easy Dessert Recipe #1
Pecan Cobbler

I was absolutely thrilled when I came across this easy dessert recipe and video presented by Ray Macks’s Kitchen and Grill channel on YouTube. I mean, what’s not to love. It combined my my love for a good cobbler with the warm and gooey flavor of an old fashioned pecan pie. Not to mention, Ray’s easy instructions and tantalizing description of the dish sold me right away.
According to Ray, the cobbler only required a few ingredients (butter, flour, brown sugar, white sugar, water, milk, vanilla, and pecans). Once all of the ingredients are mixed together, it should be placed in the oven for about thirty minutes and you are all done.

The Verdict
This recipe turned out exactly like the one in the video. The top had a slightly sweet cake-like texture which covered the sweet and sticky pecan filling on the bottom of the pan.
My mother and I enjoyed this dessert quite a bit. We served it warm with a side of vanilla ice cream just like Ray. It turned out be a nice change from our usual peach cobbler dish which we make every year.
The only tweak I would make to this recipe is to add chocolate chips for extra flavor.

Easy Dessert Recipe #2
Apple Dumplings

I cannot fully express how happy I was to find this recipe on YouTube. I had been looking for a tasty apple dessert that wasn’t a pie for quite some time. We always like to have an apple dessert for Thanksgiving, but I didn’t feel like making a pie. So when I came across this recipe by SugarApron on YouTube, my heart filled with joy.
However, I was a bit leery about the recipe because in addition to the apples, croissants, cinnamon and butter, the recipe required a can of Sprite to be poured over the dish before baking it in the oven. The soda made me pause and give the video the side eye for a moment.
Fortunately, I was able to look pass the soda to give this easy dessert recipe a try. How could I not? The recipe was too simple not to try. Plus, it had rave reviews.
The Verdict

This recipe was a big HIT. It made my taste buds sing with joy. It had all of the flavors of an apple pie, without all of the hassle of making one from scratch.
My brother Kahlil, who is an apple dessert connoisseur, was in heaven when he tasted this after Thanksgiving dinner. His eyes practically rolled up in his head with each bite. Even though he is health conscious, he requested another batch the following week.
This easy dessert recipe will be a staple in our home from now on. Be sure to click the link below to watch the video for this recipe.

Easy Dessert Recipe #3
Rum Cake

Now, I have to be completely honest with you, I have baked a rum cake from scratch many times before I stumbled upon this recipe. However, I was never satisfied with any of those recipes. That’s why I intensified my search for the ultimate rum cake recipe on YouTube last month.
When I saw this recipe by Coop Can Cook, I immediately had a warm and fuzzy feeling in my spirit. Watching her cut into a slice of rum cake during the first ten seconds of the video gave me so much hope.

The ingredients for this cake are the usual suspects (rum sugar, pecans, flour, vanilla, butter, vanilla pudding, eggs, and baking powder). All of this gets mixed together and baked in the oven for approximately 50 minutes. Once done, it has to cool before the rum sauce is poured on top. Once this step is complete, the cake can be served.
The Verdict

I’m just going to cut to the chase, this is the BEST rum cake recipe I have ever made. Hands down! Although I have made this cake before with similar ingredients, for some reason, the measurements in this recipe are just right. The texture of the cake is perfect. The crumb is perfect. The cake is also very moist. The rum flavor is smooth and not at all overwhelming. I can’t say one bad thing about this recipe.
I felt like I had died and gone to heaven with each bite. Even my mother and sister-in-law couldn’t stop eating it.
If you don’t make any other recipe from this post, I strongly urge you to try this one. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Click the the link below for this easy dessert recipe.
